Review - The Last Airbender Nintendo DS

Film critics weren't slow to proclaim that director M. Night Shyamalan had finally been deprived of his last bit of ability, when they first laid eyes and ears on this summer's live action movie - The Last Airbender - a big screen flick based on Nickelodeon's immensely popular TV-show.

Opinions that were completely ignored by the cinema going public, and the movie quickly revealed itself as one of the largest box-office successes this year. A fact that must've given publisher THQ reason to breathe a sigh of relief, as the company had game adaptations lined up for release alongside the movie, including one for Nintendo DS.

Somewhat like the movies

The Last Airbender game promises to let fans relive the movie, and while many cinema critics would cringe at the thought alone; the DS title does a decent job, and quite pleasantly transfers the film's manuscript onto Nintendo's handheld. The overall story arc is faithfully captured and the movie's emotional tone is deftly delivered via beautifully hand drawn cut scenes, albeit somewhat toned down in intensity more suitably for younger viewers.

If it isn't broken, don't fix it

Developer Halfbrick Studios has created a title placed firmly in the action adventure segment. The game draws heavily on classics like Zelda, while not totally living up to its design templates lofty qualities. But you'll be treated to a balanced and well executed mix of combat, exploration and puzzle solving, as you take on the roles as the boy-avatar Aang and his nemesis Prince Zuko in THQ's surprisingly generous Nintendo DS title.

That's 'Airbender' not 'Wind Waker' to you!

Aang's ability as a wielder of wind is used to present players with plenty of well constructed puzzles, which require both quick fingers and consideration, sprinkled with more proven "move crate from A to B" tasks. You'll have to conquer many labyrinthine agility courses, but the game caters elegantly to a younger audience by a combination of handholding and subtle guidance. The game provides plenty of not to taxing - but still entertaining - combat, where players get to duke it out against sword wielding guards and magicians from the Fire Nation.

Control is executed almost entirely via the touch screen, another inspiration from the DS Zelda titles. The game handles very well, and controlling Aang, as he takes to the skies using his trusty kite, is surprisingly hassle-free using the DS stylus only.

Does it bend?

You should expect to be able to wring some 6-7 hours of game play of out The Last Airbender, and the game keeps things fresh and interesting throughout, even with a limit set of building blocks.

The Last Airbender makes good use of the DS hardware, with good character work and nicely created and varied scenery. Tiresome slowdown hinders the proceeding a bit from time to time, most notably during combat. Sound effects are functional, while music is well composed but uneven in sound quality.

Prime directive - bend

The Last Airbender sits perfectly with fans of the movie and younger players - due to its solid craftsmanship, entertaining and accessible gameplay. Mature players might want consider this one twice, as the title is almost too easy, but parents looking for their kid's next Nintendo DS game should take a good look at The Last Airbender.

Verdict: Get it! (Verdict list: 'Get it!', 'Rent' or 'Never mind')

First Ten Review - Super Street Fighter 4

The time has come again, a time for Hadoukens and hairbuns, a time for pile-drivers and final boss punishment. This time however, things seem a little familiar. Welcome to Super Street Fighter 4. Super is an expansion to the original Street Fighter 4 from a few years back, but has enough changed in order to justify another purchase, even at budget price? We've got ten minutes to find out!

Upon booting the game from the Xbox dashboard, the colorful Capcom logo displays, along with the ESRB rating. Immediately after, we're treated to a grand opening cinematic in the bold, inky art style of the original Street fighter 4. The trailer is well-made and features some of the new characters including Cody, Ibuki, and Juri, and best of all, no Indestructible in sight. The title screen appears and is both fairly similar to, but less static than the original's title screen, thanks to some smoke moving stylistically across the screen. Let's get this game started.

Unfortunately, like many games of late, we're first scanned to see if we own any DLC, upon leaving the title screen. Why this can't be done under-the-hood, I just don't know. Fortunately, a few seconds later greets the player with a fantastic set of art-heavy menus, with animated transitions even! wow! Much more impressive than the original's generic setup.

After investigating the multiplayer menu, it's clear that not a great deal has changed in this section. There are now endless battles that function as a never ending arcade-line match. There's a new team-battle, which seems silly in design, for whichever team has the better single player will most likely win regardless of any of the other team's players...The omission of a player match option is a little sad, as I would appreciate the ability to get my crank kicked without scaring up my record.

Jumping into Arcade mode, we can see that there are a bounty of new characters, and everyone is unlocked from the get-go this time. A very welcome feature, though I wonder if this will come at the expense of good unlockables when I finally do defeat Seth. I'll select Juri, since she seems to be the poster-child of this new title. Players can now choose between one of two ultra moves as well--a nice strategic touch. After the familiar pre-match intro and a predictably craptastic anime slideshow intro, along with a bit more loading than was in the original game, we're into the match. Juri is apparently an evil, flaunting Korean woman, based on her intro animation--a quality animation in line with the rest of the street fighter cast from the original. Unfortunately, my opponent Abel is sporting the same intro animation he had from the first game, a very disappointing prospect, for we can now assume that all other animations will also be the same for all the original characters.

Now into the match, it seems that the solid fighting engine from the original has remained almost completely unchanged. It is obvious that this update was all about the content and not about reshaping an excellent fighting foundation. Juri is a very fun character to use, with a flying kick much akin to Cammy's cannon spike, which can also be made into a several-hit combo just by mashing the kick button. She also has a nice crowd-breaker attack that could only be described as a cartwheel of death. I wish I could power through arcade mode, but time's running out and there's a bit more to see.

Five Minutes Remaining

Back on the main menu lies a few more options, like challenge, which leads to several mini-games like car crusher and barrel breaker, along with a trial mode which runs you through each of a characters combos. I've never been a fan of the latter mode, and the mini-games are only good as a joke--And like a joke, they're only funny once.

Besides training mode, there is very little else here. You've got a standard Arcade mode, standard training mode, standard online mode, and an underwhelming challenge mode. Did I miss something?

Final Minute MarkUp

Are you thinking of purchasing Super Street Fighter 4? If you are, it is actually a very simple decision. Let's break it down a little. The modes are still bare-boned, standard affairs. The mini-games were a waste of development time, the online isn't even up to the early-generation Dead or Alive 4, and...there's little else to speak of, but hey! The menus are awesome! The decision to purchase Super Street Fighter 4 comes solely down to whether you want to pay a budget price to receive ten new characters...and get rid of indestructible. The characters are of fairly good quality as far as I can tell--Juri being one of the highlights. Unfortunately, eight of the characters exist in other Capcom fighting games, and only two are completely new, but hey, this is budget priced. In the end, it comes down to your appreciation of the fighting engine the game is built on, and the gaming mileage you'll get out of new characters. If you already own the original, and If you're dying for more Street Fighter content, there are far worse purchases you could make. If you never owned the original, drop a thirty, tape your knuckles, and hit the streets--You won't regret it.

Widgets Odyssey 2 - Review PlayStation Portable (PSP, PlayStation Minis)

When I took a look at Frima Studio's Widgets Odyssey for PSP earlier this summer, I came away less than impressed. The company had spun an action puzzle game, which - disregarding high production values - simply wasn't able to deliver an entertaining game experience, despite the title being an affordable digital release on Sony's PlayStation Minis platform.

Frima Studio has now released the promised second part in the series, and so it's time to evaluate if Widgets Odyssey 2 can hold up to scrutiny better than it's younger sibling.

In last episode of 'Robots On The Run'

Widgets Odyssey 2 sees the completion of the mad dash for escape that the robotic fugitives Spad, Cosmo, Bruce, Helmut and Monk started in the first game. The five chums are desperately making their run from the evil galactic overlord Yagor and his mad robotic army set on destruction. The final chapter's script is filled with gags and humour in spades and Frima Studio continues to impress with well composed cutscenes, the price bracket taken into consideration.

Second time is the charm

Widgets Odyssey 2 stays true to the ideas from the first game, and successfully remedies most of the failings quite successfully. The five robots must once more avoid acid pools, execute difficult jumps across frail platforms, annihilate dangerous robotic adversaries, and solve small puzzles on their way to sweet freedom.

Where the Widgets' first outing was full of promise, the game didn't come through, and was plagued with uninspired levels, short playtime and lack of real challenge - most of which is now history. The designers at Frima Studio increased the difficulty level, added a few twists with better puzzles and new game elements. Levels are larger, demand more skill to conquer and are much more varied. The company even managed to include some rewarding mini games, most noteworthy a fun little rhythm challenge and a shoot-em-up section that's actually quite fun.

Short but sweet

Odyssey 2 adds a bit of length compared to previously, but still falls short of 2 hours in total. Still, Spad and co. delivers far better entertainment that before, but be aware that the title offers little replay incentive.

Not only beautiful on the outside

Having taken care of the game play department, Widgets Odyssey 2's good looks are even more appreciated. Scenery is detailed, beautifully crafted 2D affairs, characters oozes charm and the cutscenes steals the show with their bright, cartoon antics. Sound effects are rudimentary and the very limited soundtrack tends to grate quite fast.

Vindicated

Even taking the limited duration into account, Widgets Odyssey 2 is a far better proposition than its predecessor. You get more fun, content and excitement this time around, and fans of quirky action puzzlers can safely pick this one up for a Sunday afternoon on the couch with your PSP.

Verdict: Get it! (Verdict list: 'Get it!', 'Borrow' or 'Never mind')

NCAA Football 2011

EA Sports has long been a leader in the sports video game market and NCAA College Football 2011 is no different. It has definitely upgraded over last years version and is a must have if you enjoy College Football. We will discuss some of the new features and why we think it is one of the best games on the market.

NCAA 2011 has some great new features such as the blocking of the lineman and tight ends. If you have good lineman and you have numbers on that side of the field then most of the time you will be able to run that side fairly easily. I really love when your guards are pulling on a pitch out or counter and they kick there guy out fairly easily and make a huge hole for the running back.

Another nice feature in College Football 2011 is the receivers and how they handle themselves. In the past the receivers would not hardly challenge for the ball. In this years game they will go and get the ball and battle with the defender to make a play. Its really nice to have this option when you are going for a first down or close to the end zone you can actually depend on your receivers a little more.

These are just a few of the noticeable features of NCAA Football 2011 that make it a great College Football Game. The Overall Gameplay is awesome and these extra features really make it a must have. Check out our PlayStation 3 websites below for more help and reviews.

Should I Buy Mario Kart 3DS for the Nintendo 3DS?

Mario Kart is one of Nintendo's longest running franchises and every iteration has been packed with new additions, addictive (and monstrously fun) racing, and unique game play mechanics that no other developer has been able to emulate. But what about the latest version for the Nintendo 3DS? Should you buy Mario Kart 3DS?

The most important thing to realise is that all Mario Kart games follow a fairly similar and well-loved formula. You choose either Mario or a character from the Mario universe and then race around a track three times collecting power ups and obliterating your competitors until a victor is determined. It's full of color, large jumps, crazy environments and near-endless re-playability. That's the standard formula, but what's different about Mario Kart 3DS?

Beyond the standard additions of new tracks, improved graphics, a changing roster of characters, extra game play modes and overall polishing, there's quite a few things that might compel you to buy Mario Kart 3DS for the Nintendo 3DS.

By far the biggest draw is the stereoscopic 3D effects. The Nintendo 3DS is the first gaming device to feature full 3D effects like those you would see in Avatar or How to Train your Dragon, but without the need for goofy glasses. It's a profound evolutionary step in gaming, and will greatly improve the immersion in any game you play.

In terms of Mario Kart 3DS specifically though, the addition of 3D effects will make it easier to judge the distance between yourself and

* Other racers
* Environmental hazards
* Power ups

This sounds like a small feature, but being able to perceive depth will make it considerably easier to race strategically, avoid dangerous elements in the game and collect all the power ups you can. The game will be less forgiving in regards to your skill level, perhaps, but you'll be greatly rewarded for sticking it out and mastering every corner and dominating every track.

That said, 3D won't be the only reason to pick up this game. Nintendo have been quite vocal about their desire to improve their online gaming system, perhaps making it similar to Xbox Live in some ways. This would allow you to race your friends and family around the world and experience Mario Kart in a whole new way.

David Turnbull is a Nintendo 3DS enthusiast who wants to help you buy Mario Kart 3DS for the best possible price.

LEGO Harry Potter - Years 1-4 Review, PlayStation Portable (PSP)

Five years ago developer studio Traveller's Tales launched their LEGO adaptation of the Star wars saga - a first in what was to be become one of the most successful range of games targeted for a younger audience. Since then Traveller's Tales has tried their hand at rethinking Indiana Jones and Batman, and the time has finally come to re-create every ones favourite sorcerer, Harry Potter, in bright and shiny plastic blocks.

Casting loose

In LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 you get to take the guise of Harry himself explore the winding halls of sorcerer school Hogwarts, and help enact Traveller's Tales' irreverent interpretation of the four first movies.

Compared to prior LEGO games Harry Potter: Years 1-4 manage to both stay true to form, and bring much needed evolution to the somewhat tired template. High speed platforming is replaced with more measured adventuring, and action extravagance is tempered with increased exploration and puzzle solving.

The Potter movies successfully portray a sense of wonder and adventure, a feeling that's been capture elegantly by Traveller's Tales' game offering; you'll get to learn powerful magical spells, escape from the claws of towering trolls, brew fuming potions, and fight animated statues as well as flying books. You'll have to use stealth and learn guard's patrol routes be hearth, timing your movements if you're to avoid being caught outside your dorm at night.

Practice makes perfect

Alongside Harry you control co-stars like Hermione and Ron, using the friend's combined skills to escape tricky mazes and solve various tasks. Controls are quickly assimilated, and younger players are taught the varying tricks of a magician's trade trough easy to understand tutorials and training sessions.

The designers at Traveller's Tales have crated an accomplished and polished game world for LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4. Levels vary deftly between puzzle sections, spell learning classes, exploration and action intertwined with slapstick cut scenes re-telling the Harry Potter tales with a twinkle in the eye.

A fountain of plastic fun

Once through the sizeable storyline, which should take you some 8-10 hours, you're nowhere near closing the book on the game's offering. Hogwarts and the surrounding countryside is a veritable goldmine, designed to keep kids coming back to scrounged for extras, long after the sheen has worn off for adult gamers.

While LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 doesn't push Sony's powerful little handheld anywhere close to its limits, you're treated to pleasing scenery, well animated models and plenty of fireworks as you let loose with your magical armoury. The orchestral soundtrack is well chosen and technically strong, while sound effects tend towards the strangely tinny and scratchy - somewhat marring the audio impression.

A perfect fit

Harry Potter: Years 1-4 is a refreshing new take on Traveller's Tales LEGO formula, and will appeal to fans of the previous LEGO games and the diminutive, bespeckled magician. Fans of Sony's PSP should feel pleased, that their preferred handheld finally houses an almost flawless Harry Potter experience, that should be enjoyed by children in all ages.

Verdict: Get it! (Verdict list: 'Get it!', 'Borrow' or 'Never mind')

Joe Danger Review - Excitebike on Steroids!

British developers Hello Games' first release is Joe Danger, a lighthearted old-school stunt motorcycle game and something completely new. Each level offer multiple challenges, making them impossible to complete during the first run and relies on a difficult and deep gameplay to keep you busy for hours.

Joe Danger is an aging motorcycle stuntman who returns to claim the Master of Disaster title for his own. It's up to you to help him remember how to perform his amazing stunts, but it's made easy with simple controls. This game just feels good to play. It's your job to take Joe through several tours, all the while amazing the crowd with insane stunts and racing through strange courses.

Joe Danger is not just a stunt racing game, it's also similar to a platformer in the way each level is laid out. Hidden areas and items are scattered throughout each course and racing to the finish line on every level will leave a large amount of gameplay left untouched. Every stage has multiple objectives that grant stars upon completion and these stars unlock additional levels. This gives each level a large amount of freedom in which to complete it. Even if you get stuck on a challenge, moving on to a different level may give you enough time to recuperate and try again. The game is made where you don't have to complete every challenge to progress the story, so you're not forced to repeat every challenge over and over again.

The control scheme is simple, With controls for balance, speed, tricks, crouching, jumping, and boost. Using your boost allows you to launch yourself off of ramps, over ledges, or through bowling pins. The controls are very sharp and precise. No matter how difficult the game will get, the controls make the game feel like its nothing but fair at all times.

Another feature in Joe Danger is the amazing course editor introduced in the tutorial of the single-player mode. This offers many levels a unique puzzle element because you have to create your own course to complete challenges. This feature in the single-player campaign is not often used, but it works quite well when it is. Some of these levels require you moving objects around, while others require you to find the right object to use for the task. Multi-player mode allows two player to race against each other in split-screen races.

It's not just the big things that make Joe Danger an enjoyable game to play. Comic-book style visuals, cheering crowds, and the obscure 1980's cartoon references in the level's titles add significantly to the game's charm. Joe's personality also plays a large part in this, with cheers, grins and waves as he performs stunts. Although the lack of sharing any user-created courses and limited multi-player keep Joe Danger from reaching its full potential, the single-player campaign is remarkable. This game feels like it was created by a full-fledged company when it was actually the first project of four guys. This game is one of the most full-featured and polished games available for consoles today.

Top Four Unbeatable Driving Games of All Time

For all those who are now past their teenage years, video games are something that we have lived and grown up with. Most of the legendary video games were created in front of our eyes and every single one of them shared an experience that is indefinable. First it used to be Atari and arcades with games like pole position, Outrun and Test drive. But in the 90s, the graphics and game play suddenly increasingly enhanced. Years passed and eventually we grew up to buy a real car from some New Jersey Chevrolet dealer. Yet, that car from NJ Chevy dealer could not match up to the experience we had with our joysticks.

There are uncountable numbers of car and driving games up till now, but there are only few which left a mark on our minds and literally revolutionized the whole typical racing game experience. It is undeniable that the 80s and early 90s games are still the true legends that started it all but this article discusses games that came up after the mid 90s and added something fresh to the whole driving experience. Let us take a look at four famous games that did not just rely on ordinary racing strategy, but made gaming even more fun.

Need For Speed

Easily said, this is the game that started it all. During the mid 90s, when everyone was content with arcade games, Need for Speed showed us that it is not all about being on the track and winning the race. Players had the opportunity to select from real locations and cars and also to unlock more tracks and cars as the game progressed. It seemed like for the first time the gaming industry had seriously teamed up with automobile giants for such a venture.

Grand Theft Auto

It is a game which was not just a driving game because the player was able to get out of the vehicle and do other things in the city. That was the beauty of it. The first part, although not very commendable regarding graphics and the view, totally set new boundaries for a driving game. The game play was more exciting than ever and the player was able to stop the vehicle even during a mission, get out of the vehicle, steal some other car and carry on with the mission. This gave any gamer the flexibility needed to make games enjoyable.

Gran Turismo

When this game was released in 1997, there was hardly any driving/racing game which was able to meet its high graphics. Besides, it had wonderful collection of cars and numerous customization options which could alter the performance of the car. The handling was also very realistic as compared to other games of that time

Driver

There is definitely no car driving/racing list complete without this legendary game. Released in 1999, this game heralded what the new generation automobile games were going to be like. There was a strong story line, characters and locations to explore in the game. Overall, it was an exhilarating experience for any gamer.

Connor Sullivan found the number of NJ Chevy dealer available online impressive. He recently searched the internet for a New Jersey Chevrolet Dealer expert to help him find a safe affordable car for his teenage driver.

Get an Account

I haven't seen anyone yet who doesn't want to go in the space and reveal the secrets beyond the skies. Well, it is not that I am going to take you there in reality but this is the century of computer domination and the digital technology has developed so much that now there is a whole new virtual world created inside them. Which ever role we want to play, we can be it in that virtual world. Hence the SWTOR (star wars: the old republic) also offers you an exciting new virtual world in which you have to play the role of a cosmonaut and interact with other cosmonauts who are your own friends and relatives and experience the awe-inspiring events of the space.

SWTOR by Lucas arts

The game SWTOR by Lucas arts is so well presented by its excellent graphics that make this journey look real and irresistible. Even if people, including me, who never had any gaming background and stayed miles away from games are surprised to see themselves being swept away by this game. It is a real-time addiction. Not only the journey itself but the storyline of the game is so enthralling that it just absorbs you into it and makes you want to play it more and more. Every time you level up in the game you will have different surprises and challenges waiting for you. I guarantee that your experience as a cosmonaut in the game SWTOR will be simply superb.

Unlike other games which can be played for free, this game however requires you to buy an account for which you will have to pay a monthly or bimonthly fee. That is the bad news, for sure. But if you just start playing it and only get a sneak peak into it then you would say thanks to me. It is real entertainment for not only the younger ones but also for the older ones who would catch their breath because they would certainly feel as if they have entered the space themselves. Now you don't need a spaceship to go into space; just buy a swtor account and go to the virtual world of space in which you play the exciting and fantasy role of a cosmonaut and also live their lifestyle as it will be your own virtual world now. If truth be told, when you get started you would want to really go in the game because your virtual world would seem more exciting than your real world to you.

Purchase a swtor account

The game is still under process of testing but you can still purchase a swtor account and get familiarized with the characters, the features and the story line. Just imagine the advantage of this. By the time your friends will start playing you will be a lot of levels up and imagine you boasting in front of them because you know everything about the game and are already playing it! This offer is especially for the game addicts who, I know, would certainly start to jump with excitement when they see this offer.

It would not be an exaggeration to state that video games have become an integral part of one's childhood especially for children in developing and developed countries. Video games have successfully crossed the time period wherein they were considered to be a distraction to a children's education. Instead, they are now considered to be as a valuable education tool that children are willingly embracing. In fact, some video games like Tactical Iraqi are no longer restricted to children but have gone on to become a learning simulator for army personnel and career diplomats. Review - Wheelman (Playstation 3)

Wheelman - The aim of the game is a cross between a Grand Theft Auto and Need for Speed, with a mixture of shooting and foot sections of reckless driving. Milo Burik, starring Vin Diesel and digital incarnation, will be able to seize all vehicles that came within range, freely exploring the city of Barcelona, the scene of events. The plot centered on the adventures of an undercover cop, will proceed through 31 main missions, accompanied by hundreds of secondary tasks and resources useful to obtain additional weapons. While sections walk perfectly reflect the canons of classic action games, with a third-person view and a simple cover system, just to survive shootings, those enclosing guide all innovations designed by developers.

To get rid of his enemies, Milo can use the special qualities that enable him to momentarily reverse its direction to shoot freely pursuers. In these moments, highlighted by a classic time in slow motion, a few well placed shots are able to detonate the vehicles even more resistant, resulting in accidents and spectacular choreography. During the chase, with a particular command you can move quickly to the side, avoiding obstacles or sock a vehicle nearby. This system, called melee attacks with vehicles, gives extreme physicality Sections driving. Note, however, that its operation is clearly designed for an analog controller, where the movement in question is linked to the right stick. Fortunately, under review, this bug has been fixed.

Another crucial aspect is the stealing air from Milo used to procure a new vehicle without wasting time and speed. Just get close to a car running and press the appropriate button to see our hero pounce on an unsuspecting driver and then throw him out unceremoniously, so as to enable the determination of the car. This system is particularly clever in that dramatically reduces the downtime that is created when their car is too damaged. Nell'inseme therefore Wheelman is a fun, immediate and balanced. The biggest problem concerns the design: still shows polygonal models and animations that seem to come straight over from 2005 to textures that are too easy to Barcelona.

Top 5 Classic Video Games You Need to Play

Video games are a great way to pass the time and find amusement. They have changed greatly over the years with new graphics and 3D images. But, the classics are games that stand the test of time. Listed below are the top five classic video games you need to play.

Pong - This is sometimes referred to as the original video game. The concept of the game was simple. Think ping pong. You had two bats that slid up and down and you had to hit the ball back and forth.

Space Invaders - This was the first game in which little green men from outer space invaded us. You would have a ship at the bottom of the screen. You would shoot at rows of aliens above you while they shot back at you. Each cycle they would drop closer and closer to your ship, so you had to be quick.

Pac-man - Who can forget the game that morphed into a multi billion dollar industry? The goal was to "gobble" up dots while running from monsters through a maze. Each screen got harder as the monsters got faster. Ms. Pac-man and Pac-man Junior followed the craze.

Asteroids - Your spaceship is in the middle of an asteroid field. Your mission is to shoot the asteroids breaking them into small pieces until they eventually disappear completely. Of course, you have to do all of this without getting pulverized by a piece of the asteroid.

Gauntlet - This game was developed during the Dungeons and Dragons craze. You choose a character and run through dungeons fighting monsters and picking up potions, food, and keys.

So have fun with these top five classic video games that you need to play. Most can be found for free on the internet!

Halo 3 ODST For Xbox 360

Halo is the BEST game ever. It is because of Halo Xbox was able to survive. Halo is said to be the game that sold Xbox. And now fast forward to the future... we are now at Halo 3 and the news is out that it would be the last Halo installment. Yeah... I too am sad, I just don't want Halo to end. I guess Microsoft realised it and they have made a expansion pack for Halo 3 named Halo: ODST. With Halo ODST you can enjoy Halo more. The one important thing that is different in Halo ODST is the absence of the beloved Master Chief who is very busy in Delta Halo and because of his absence you will have to take up most of the missions undertaken by the Orbital Drop Shock Troopers.

The game setting and background is in the occupied city of New Mombassa and the games starts with you are a Rookie who has been separated from your squad. You have to find out what happened to your squad. It is your mission and you are assisted in this mission by your superintendent. You are a mortal and your shield is not indestructible and the health packs are rare, so you have to be careful how you play the game, you just cannot run into a bunch of enemies and take them out, you have to plan your tactics carefully and stick to them. This game is hard and you most probably won't be completing the levels the first time and anyway that's what makes this game so challenging and so good.

In this games you get bigger and better weapons, some of the new ones are very cool and deadly, there is a silenced pistol also for silent kills without attracting to many enemies to your position. You also get a night vision mode for night time maps and levels along with changing weather and time and you can fully enjoy the graphics that this game has to offer. They are undoubtedly bigger and better than the previous Halo games. Then there is the online play too in which you can fight with friends or anyone else online... the online play guarantees hours of Halo gameplay. Agreed this game is an expansion pack of Halo 3, but it makes Halo 3 so much better and lengthier and there is so much new content that it will blow your away. A must-have for any Halo fan, buy your today and join the action without delay.

Hot Shots Tennis - Get a Grip Review (PSP)

For more that 10 years, Japanese developer Clap Hanz has been synonymous with over-the-top, sugary happy sports games on Sony's PlayStation gaming machines. Mostly responsible for golf games, the company tried their luck at tennis back in 2006 on the PS2. Hot Shots Tennis: Get a Grip has now finally made it over to Sony's PSP in a handheld incarnation perfectly suited to tennis fans on the move.

Bring joy through... tennis?

Clap Hanz has taken the games campaign in a slightly different direction from what we are normally used too in sports games. The sizeable story section has been spiked with a bit of RPG elements, as you take the part of a young tennis ace, charged with travelling the world to help raise happiness through the noble sport of tennis. You'll get to see everything from universities tennis clubs in Japan to L.A. film studios, where you'll meet new friends and solve their problems by beating them on the courts. You build your character's skills through successful matches, and along the way you'll gain access to new accessories, better rackets, and clothing.

Want realism? No need to come here

If you're looking for accuracy in your sports games, you better stay well clear of Hot Shots Tennis. Simulation is put on the back seat, and is replaced by a fast and furious action filled game of tennis. Clap Hanz once more has shown themselves as some of the masters in designing sports games, that are easy to pick up, a joy to play combined with just enough depth to provide a satisfactory feel of the sport.

Controls are easily understood, the stroke library chosen with great care and the game provides gentle assistance. Opponents are a bit on the weak side, but to advance in the game you'll have to defeat some decent players, that is sure to challenge action fans.

Second server please

The lengthy story mode will provide hours of highly satisfying tennis fun. If you want to avoid the RPG trimmings, exhibition matches will take you into action in express speed. Hot Shots Tennis only supports ad hoc multiplayer; a bitter step down from Clap Hanz' PSP golf games, that previously offered the ability to battle against players from all over the world online.

Hot Shot games are invariably colourful, anime affairs - populated with starry eyed kids performing great sporting deed on bright, attractive playing fields, supported by chirpy tunes and cute sound effects. Get a Grip is no exception, and the PSP hardware is put to good use, resulting in an attractive looking and sounding game, that's rich in charm.

Time for Centre court

Get a Grip is a brilliant addition to the PSP offerings, and fans of Clap Hanz' previous handheld sports games and newcomers both will be very pleased with this fine tuned portable title. Hot Shots Tennis: Get a Grip is instant likeable and engaging - easily one of 2010's best PSP games so far!

Verdict: Borrow (Verdict list: 'Get it!', 'Borrow' or 'Never mind')

STALKER - Call of Pripyat Review

The third installment of GSC Game Worlds STALKER series is called Call of Pripyat. There have been several improvements since the last installment, clear sky.

Namely, the more noticeable improvements are:

  • Greatly improved enemy artificial intelligence.
  • More detail, less empty pointless buildings
  • New anomalies with more though and detail
  • Dozens of new weapons
  • More storyline and progression

It's not uncommon to be traveling through the Zone minding your own business when suddenly you might stumble across a fellow stalker battling it out in a desperate struggle with several mutants.

As well as finding random encounters like this you will also come across many strange and beautiful anomalies as well as a great amount of new scenery. Take the time to explore every nook and cranny, this is the only way to truly experience STALKER Call of Pripyat.

Keep a close eye on every new weapon you come across. New pistol upgrades make handguns a viable weapon rather than a useless trinket and shotguns make short work of zombie and mutant crowds. A great combination of weapons will ensure a quick take down every time.

One of the most enjoyable aspects of the new STALKER is the feeling of progression. It's no longer just about leveling up and finding new weapons. You actually get the feeling that your character is growing and developing as the game continues.

If you have enjoyed the previous two STALKER games then you will definitely enjoy this latest Russian masterpiece. If you haven't but are after a compelling open world RPG experience than look no further then STALKER Call of Pripyat.

My Virtual Favorite Education Game is "My Virtual Tutor"

For preschool kids to about, say, first or second grade, "My Virtual Tutor" is one of the best examples of what the Nintendo DS can do and be as an education game. There's all the basic stuff like alphabet-recognition and vocabulary-expansion. It does the basic stuff well, and makes those things fun. But what it does best is utilize the Nintendo DS's unique interface - its microphone and stylus - like no other education game has done before. It's exciting for the younger set, and great to watch as a parent.

The basic menu gives your child a number of categories to choose from - different skills to work on: "Quiz," "Phonics," and "Books."

"Books" includes a number of titles to select from, all of which are "playable" in multiple ways. This mode was the big winner, in my "book." Once the "book" is selected, the game provides a number of options, giving your kid three ways to interact with the story. The first is to have the game read the story out-loud in "read to me" mode. The second education game, called "I can read," uses the DS's microphone to record the child reading aloud. It's a fun mode that has the added benefit and added fun of allowing you child to hear her own voice played back to her. Next, in "explore" mode, the game bounces around within the game, highlighting various sentences for the child to read along with the game. Finally, in a kind of "bonus" mode, "paint" allows the child to use the stylus to draw the story as the game reads aloud.

The next reading tutor is called "Quiz" mode. Here, a number of blocks appear and your child picks a block to turn over a question. Think: a very basic mode of "Jeopardy!" As the child answers questions correctly, the blocks are removed. Once all the blocks disappear, she gets a prize! All of her prizes and records are stored in a kind of "Trophy Case" back in this education game's main menu.

Finally, the "Phonics" mode is much more basic, but still useful and fun. There are a number of modes that ask you to pick which words rhyme, or which words start with each others' beginning letters. There are sub-divisions of these games that are the equivalent of "free play" or "challenge" modes, where your child can play without fear of failure, or challenge herself by putting a limit on the number of incorrect answers she can give before the education game is "over."

There's also a "Parents" screen within the "Options" menu that lets parents see how their children are progressing within the various games. This screen shows percentages, best times, that sort of thing. It's not too deep, but a nice little addition to this already great education game, nonetheless.

Overall, My Virtual Tutor is the best education game for the Nintendo DS I've found that focuses strictly on reading and writing. If you're a parent with a child in the pre- or early-elementary school years, you absolutely can't go wrong with this game. It's fun, innovative, and above all - teaches reading and writing effectively. Highly recommended!

William is a parent and a New York straphanger. His kid is already on the way to becoming a gamer who sometimes needs a little "gentle encouragement" to play an education game with his old man, even the games the little guy picked out, himself. William misses the days of Sonic and Mario when they'd only go from left-to-right, rather than 360 degrees.

Review - Widgets Odyssey (PSP, PlayStation Minis)

Since Sony launched its digital games initiative last year, more than a million bite sized games has been served to PSP and PS3 owners via the online PlayStation store. One of the developers to provide early support was Frima Studio that earned accolades by means of creative strategy title Vector TD. The Canadian company is back again, this time to vie for games attention and credit cards with puzzle platformer Widgets Odyssey.

We have blastoff!
In Widgets Odyssey we follow the crew of the spaceship S-Space comprised of the five robotic fugitives Spad, Cosmo, Bruce, Helmut and Monk. They're on the run from the evil mastermind Yagor - seeker of galactic conquest - and his hordes of automated henchmen. Unassuming and tongue-in-cheek, Widgets Odyssey's script is hilarious, and the robotic comrades are a funny bunch to follow. Moreover the story is presented via beautifully crafted cutscenes, that's very welcome in this type of release.

Sounds good on paper
Widgets Odyssey is build on all the platform genres core elements. You'll jump across perilous acid lakes and balance on narrow ledges, battle robot foes, solve easy 'find item and bring item' type puzzles, even defeat bosses and make your way through twisted mazes, while you avoid laser guns and falling icicles.

So far so good, the basics are in place - but the ideas newer comes together to produce a truly compelling game. Levels are small, unimaginative and to simplistic to pose much challenge, neither mentally or hand eye coordination wise. Each robot has slightly different skills, but their abilities aren't used to much advantage.

The game's controls feel strangely sluggish, but handling the energetic Monk in the games final stage - on of the adventures highlights -was a fun and fast affair. Affairs never become more than only vaguely entertaining, and sadly falls quite a bit short of what could have been achieved, given the game's premise.

Where's 'Chapter two'?
Your hard earned two dollars will buy you
a handful of short levels, which all told can be completed in an hours worth or so. Once you've solved the puzzles and conquered the sole boss, there's not much coming back for, and anyone hoping for an experience worthwhile of revisits will be disappointed in Widgets Odyssey.

Pretty indeed
For a digital release in the lower price range, Widgets Odyssey looks and sounds surprisingly pleasing. Cutscenes are fine crated cartoons with good voiceovers; levels are strictly 2D but well presented. The action is garnered with fine, but somewhat generic, sound effects.

Save it for next round, please
Although the offering comes at a low price point, it's hard to recommend the title wholeheartedly. Frima Studio's game is filled with humour and fun, has great production quality, but the short length and somewhat unambitious gameplay removes quite a bit of the initial thrill. While Widgets Odyssey doesn't deliver entirely on its promise, we're still looking forward to seeing, where the five robot pals will journey, when the sequel launches early August.

Verdict: Borrow (Verdict list: 'Get it!', 'Borrow' or 'Never mind')

Rhiannon Curse of the Four Branches

Let's start off with the plot of this' interesting point and click adventure. Surely this is one of the best aspects of the game, in fact the story is really exciting and engaging. The setting of the title is the main colonial house "Ty Pryderi in Wales, bought by Sullivan. This family is also Rhiannon, a girl aged 15 who behaves in a strange way, is very anxious and says he hears noises in the house claims and continues to have nightmares at night. Of course her parents did not believe his stories as much to try to justify these claims with the noise produced by the renovation of the house current.

At this point, Mr. Sullivan send Rhiannon at her aunt's house for a short period of time, but on his return and nothing changes. Now Rhiannon through the Internet gets in touch with an expert scholar of mythology in Wales, called Jon Southworth. Thanks to him, the girl manages to discover that the house where he lives with his parents lies an ancient evil whose stories are told in the legends Mabinogi. Now Rhiannon convinces his parents to leave for a short holiday, leaving the task of the house to a family friend Chris (the protagonist of the game where you play as).

This in brief is the story that will accompany us throughout the adventure. Unfortunately from the point of view of gameplay, the game leaves a bit 'to want, because you can not rotate 360 degrees its first person view, but clicking on the arrows on the screen. This system is quite uncomfortable, especially at the beginning when you do a little 'habit. The main focus is the exploration of the game, there are no enemies to be fought, but puzzles to solve and objects to be used to continue the plot. The most we can find the ghosts make their appearance through the well-made short films.

The graphic Rhiannon is good, although we have seen better, but for audio the game is played almost entirely in silence, with few sound effects and about 6 songs that make up the soundtrack. I'm not a big fan of the genre, but this way I was not particularly impressed by the technical point of view, a good 3D graphics that blends with pre-rendered 2D backgrounds but which are certainly levels of Syberia, an audio segment Discrete and gameplay pretty confusing, Rhiannon make a good adventure game, but certainly not a masterpiece of the genre. Too bad because the story behind the adventure was really exciting and engaging. However, a title recommended for all fans of point and click adventure genre, especially after the Italian translation of the game by the team Puntaeclicca.com.

Review of Knight Elite

Recently a lot of big name video games have been bringing in a survive as many rounds as you can game type. If you don't know what I am talking about I will give you a couple of examples. The most popular would have to be the Nazi Zombies from Call of Duty: World at War. Then shortly afterward Halo 3 came out with Halo 3: ODST which contained the Firefight game type. Both were essentially the same and both were the highlight of their respective games, at least for me.

That being said, I think it would be only fair to point out the flash game. Flash games have been employing this game type for years and years. This article focuses on one of the greats. Knight Elite has been a pleasant surprise among the internet. You play as a knight defending the castle from the waves attacking orcs.

Along with the rounds comes the time in between rounds where you get to learn new abilities and buy new weapons. This probably doesn't come as a very big surprise, but the best twist on the game is the buildings. It takes the form of a more real time strategy game where you must build your buildings to advance your weaponry and army. This is one of the nice touches that makes it a game that will hook you and keep you playing hours on end.

To wrap it all up Knight Elite is one of those rare flash games that feels like a top dollar big name game.

Keep looking out for more reviews of some of the best flash games on the web. If you would like to play Knight Elite you can find it at GamesofAwesome.com, a home for all of the best flash games.

Call of Duty - Black Ops First Glimpse

Moden Warfare 2 along with it's wonderful achievements have improved the game world. It is fairly organic for gamers who enjoy Modern Warfare 2 to be hoping for the sequel. The Call of Duty fansite has a short time ago studied the actual teaser trailer who was revealed by Treyarch together with their announcement of the actual new Call of Duty Black Ops game that is to be revealed the following fall. For the reason that Activision has publicized the official release time intended for Black Ops, the 7th installment of Call of Duty series, the wait is now over. The engineering of the video game had been began by Treyarch, a California-based subsidiary of Activision around the April 29, 2010. It looks like the release time of the game is going to be November 9 of this year. The article of the fansite has already garnered world wide praise and awareness, and has now been uploaded in discussion boards and also blogs a great number of times.

M16, CAR15, AK-47 and others are all of the Vietnam War esque weaponry. The overall game is going to occur during the Cold War, that's not very well covered throughout video gaming, and then will most likely spark a multitude of competing video games in the very same time period trying to monetize upon its popularity. At the beginning of this trailer it seems that somebody, most likely an American soldier judging by the proceeding clips, is attempting to come back to consciousness while weird Russian-accented fellow is referring to assisting the soldier try to remember something. There have been additional demos unveiled for a few individuals, besides the actual trailer. First demonstration had taken us through slow as well as strategic journey inside the arctic mountains within Russia close to 1968. You will see that there is certainly a Blackburd on afterburners, should you watch the actual trailer close enough. On one of the demos you can see a first-person perspective of the soldier boarding the actual Blackbird in a windy, dusty air force somewhere around Northern California. Pair of orange-glowing motors along plane's delta-shaped wings give away the origin and makes it very clear that its the Lockheed SR-71's silhouette. In the course of Vietnam-war ages, this became typically the airplane commissioned. This airplane starts off a thriving sprint all the way down the actual runway, the gamer drags back on the left analog stick, then one flash forwards after, the SR-71 is going to be high above the ground ready to carry out some reconnaissance over opposing forces territory.

Inside the demo you can see great chit chat amongst players, a thing that appeared to be missing in preceding Call of Duty games. Now the playable character will have his own voice in the video game, brand new in background associated with Call of Duty video game titles. You are no more playing a mute super soldier but yet a person able of chiming in with his own feelings plus ideas in relation to what is going down. We have been desperate to look at precisely how Treyarch manages the actual storytelling in Black Ops, given that Modern Warfare 2's plot tended to veer out of control for a lot of the adventure--a lot more so as compared with past games. I really believe there probably will not be any specific date ranges to be mentioned in the actual game however most likely will target the 1960s and 1970's originating in the Bay of Pigs to Vietnam, and also Watergate. We would not be stunned if they include things like or simply bring up Kennedy's murder somewhere in the experience.

That being said, Black Ops seems impressive. Needless to say, this is a Call of Duty game, so that is probably not a great deal of a shock. New surroundings, new game play in addition to various pacing in the game probably will make a perfect combination. we are getting excited about experiencing just what else Treyarch has up its sleeve prior to Black Ops' November nine launch date. Whatever the case, this game will certainly set a big bomb when it's going to be launched. Together with a a number of Entertainment media, Call of duty: Black Ops is bound to reach the headlines.

This game with its special operations, most current use of weapons, team play, amazing perks and the never ending maps is sometimes just too good to be true.

Summer of Retro Entry #7 - Final Fantasy Tactics Advance

Developer Square Enix launched Final Fantasy Tactics Advance on the Gameboy Advance back in 2003. Acclaim from reviewers and fans were almost universal, and the title became an instant hit selling well above 1 million copies worldwide. While time has stood still for Square Enix' strategy roleplaying game, the genre and handhelds have evolved. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance today must be measured against top games like Disgaea and Jeanne d'Arc on PSP and Nintendo DS.

Faraway lands and strange adventures

In Final Fantasy Tactics Advance we follow the story of a group of children, that's pulled into the imaginary world of Ivalice. Here the children find themselves thrown into a warring nation, where they have no other choice that to pick up arms and try wrestle a place for themselves amongst Ivalice's many clans.

Tactics Advance is played on a world map, where you travel from town to town and pick up missions, battle other clans for turf while building your ultimate fighting force. Each battle is conducted in small arenas e.g. wildernesses, cities or mountains. Combat is turn based, and you control your soldiers, healers, magicians and so forth directly.

Command and I shall obey

As expected you can customize and tweak your army to your hearts desire. Weapons, armor and various items can be acquired in shops paid for by victor's spoils. Ability and skills can be picked to bring into the field, and you can evolve your party members in all manners of ways through the game's 'job' system.

The title handles very well - menus are generally well laid out and you're able to quickly and confidently command your troops. That said, I initially felt the user interface employed too many clicks to issue orders, a feeling that subsided after a handful of missions.

Enough... enough!

The campaign is comprised of more that 200 battles, so armchair generals will not feel cheated of content. Enemy AI is effective, so no engagements will be won without using your troops effectively and tactically sound. Add to that fact, that the rules of engagement changes for each encounter, then you've got the recipe for a 'just one more round before bed' addiction.

Graphics are diminutive yet detailed and beautiful; your troops are easily recognizable, battlefields gorgeous, while spells and attack animation look a bit old by today's standards. A fine sounding orchestral soundtrack accompanies what is barely acceptable combat noise.

One for the books

Despite technical advances on handhelds consoles - Final Fantasy Tactics Advance is very much still on top of its game. Square Enix' title is addictive, deep, detailed and overflows with content. Any players worth their mettle owe it to themselves to take a trip back to Ivalice on either the Gameboy Advance or DS.

Verdict: Get it! (Verdict list: 'Get it!', 'Borrow' or 'Never mind')

Top 3 War Games For Xbox 360

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is simply a must buy for any shooter fan. The single player campaign is an amazing action packed thrill ride although it is quite short, but the new multiplayer more than makes up for the short campaign. Also there is a new co-op game mode called spec ops and there is a large variety of missions including hostage rescues, sniper missions and wave defense. The sound design is excellent with realistic weapon and vehicle sounds and a fabulous musical score. The graphics also deserve a mention too, with realistic rain and water effects and for the most part, extremely detailed environments. Great looking and detailed character models as well as awesome character animations and more destructible objects all combine to provide an extremely intense and immersive gaming experience, however the real fun in this game lies in the online competitive gaming experience. A reward system keeps players coming back for more and more while giving you the satisfaction of earning new ranks and unlocking guns and abilities. COD: Modern Warfare 2 is overall an amazing experience.

Gears of War is a masterpiece. The game has unmatched game play when it comes to console gaming. Gears of War is visually stunning and beautiful which a lot of first-person shooters lack these days. The attention to detail to each characters face and personality is also something unseen in modern day gaming and each character has its own individual purpose in the game. There's a nice balance in the game play which requires tactics and stealth as well as variety in weapons. Every weapon has its own use and purpose in the game. The sound effects and the soundtrack are nothing less than masterpiece that brings Gears of War to another level and more importantly brings the game to life. The dialog shows a lighter side to the game as humor is important. Gears of War is not among the top pc war games because the online interaction is so important to this games' success.

Halo 3 stands above other top war games in the satisfaction of killing your enemies. An arsenal of weapons unmatched in power and balance offers a collective experience uniquely tuned to make you savor frag. Halo is by no means realistic, incorporating rag doll physics. You will have fun running and gunning against AI both intelligent and sneaky for hours on end. This game boasts 4 player co-op online and 2 player co-op offline. The graphics in Halo 3 are amazing. Weapons surfaces change lighting when you turn in circles, flashes of gunfire realistically light up any dark corners you may come across, and particle effects such as dirt, explosions, and even water are displayed so naturally and tightly nit into the game world that it is seamless. When you can stand over a fallen alien and look into their mouth to see individually sculpted 3D teeth and tongue, you know a massive effort was made to make this one beautiful game.

Unlike top PC war games, the top Xbox war games are mostly first-person shooters because the xbox controller doesn't lend itself to an overhead view manipulation of a battlefield.

Demon's Souls For Playstation 3

Demon's Souls is a really different game, there are no traditional characters, no specific skills or story outline or anything like that. So in Demon's Souls, while playing the game you really have to think about your choices and make your move carefully. The character generation is very cool and fun, you can choose the gender you want and give them various facial features and you can have up to four characters saved at any one time.

The graphics of the game are simply awesome, they look really cool and you have a great time showing it off to friends. The game is really fast paces and you will really enjoy the pace at which the game plays. Added to that the presentation angles adjust cleverly as you move so you have the added ability to move it in any direction via right control stick. The gameplay is something you might not have seen before, it is hard, it is demanding and you will fail if you do not use tactics to play this game and the most obvious way won't work in this game. Demon's Souls requires intelligent and tactical fighting. That does not mean the controls are hard... controls are fairly simple and you will get into the skin of the character sooner than you can imagine. But you really have to you your brain and find ways to complete each level.

When you eventually complete the game, if you ever will, you will be pleasantly surprised to know that this game has great replayibility value and you can play it again and again without getting bored. When you play this game another time you will discover the real awesomeness of this game. If you love RPG games and want a game that is challenging then Demon's souls is your best choice out there in PlayStation 3. You can get this game real cheap here.

Super Mario Galaxy 2

Simply Amazing

Super Mario has been part of my life since the very beginning. When Nintendo first came out with their very first console, I was the one running to the store with my parents to pick one up. I am now 35 years old and I am still playing Mario games!

Well, the newest edition to be added to the amazing Super Mario Empire, is Super Mario Galaxy 2>.

The graphics will just blow you away. Each level is a new experience and you are always wanting more. Each level will just leave you in complete awe.

Now, of course, you still have all the same moves Mario has always had with a few additions.

-Comet Metals Collect a bunch of these to open new, secret levels

-Yoshi! Yup, He's back. Break open a Yoshi egg and he will then help you within the level, eat certain fruits and he will get certain powers

-DrillUse the handy drill to drill through the planet from one side to the other

-Multiplayer Mode This is one of the best editions to the Mario Games

-Graphics Graphics Graphics Need I say more!

I have been completely addicted to this game since it came out on May 23, 2010. I still haven't beat the game. I will admit though, I did purchase a copy of the Strategy Guide from Prima (Collectors Edition) for $29.99. It was the best purchase I have made in a long time! It is the only thing that has kept me from losing my voice from getting so upset (LOL).

You will still be collecting Power Stars stolen by Bowser to complete each level, but without the strategy guide, it is next to impossible to find all of them. When you get to the end of each planet, you will then jump on a launch star which will then fly you to another planet. Gravity will always pull you to the ground.

You will notice a lot of the levels seem familiar. Some are from other Super Mario Games, like from Super Mario 64. Just see if you can remember any of the levels, because once you do, you will then remember where a lot of the hidden stars are.

Pick up your copy of Super Mario Galaxy 2. I promise, you will not be disappointed.

Raven Squad

Raven Squad is a cheap version of Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter. There - cards on the table. It's a hybrid of first person shooter and real time strategy, the two camera perspectives being interchangeable with the tap of the Y-button, identical to GRAW's UAV in interface, right down to the way that enemies are marked with little red shapes. Though neither genre is executed well in any particular regard, Raven Squad is inoffensive enough to have some base charm.

Despite that fact that it feels extremely cheap, Raven Squad somehow grows on you. It captures the Eighties dumb-ass action movie tone, doing so through a mixture of bad voice acting, ridiculous civil war scenarios and, of course, casual racist stereotyping. Nothing about the gameplay really falters, save for a few pointless invisible walls - you can't shoot between branches - and, while the linear structure of levels wears thin, there's an agreeable level of variety between the abilities of the six men under your control. The overall quality of the game is very disappointing and not up to the mark.

At its best, Raven Squad's occasionally overwhelming odds can create a fair amount of tension but most of the time its cookie-cutter level design makes the experience too tiresome. Based on this, we don't think making a great shooter is beyond Atomic Motion's capabilities. With budget, technology and manpower, there's cleverly enough talent at the studio to make something superior and more multi-layered than Raven Squad. Until it does, however, there's no reason to suffer this budget release.
